First Soundtrack to Be Released in CDVU+ Format
Radio Disney’s PLANET PREMIERE Set for August 16
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The soundtrack to the highly anticipated The Cheetah Girls One World Disney Channel Original Movie will be released by Walt Disney Records on August 19. The disc features hip-hop, R&B and Indian-influenced songs performed by kid and tween superstars Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams and Sabrina Bryan. The Cheetah Girls One World premieres Friday, August 22 on Disney Channel; its anthem song and the soundtrack's lead single, "One World" made its Radio Disney debut in July.
The album is being released in the CDVU+ format, a new musical experience that "reads" like a digital magazine full of exclusive content – video footage (interviews, dance steps), photos and lyrics -- that can be accessed both on and offline. CDVU+ replaces the traditional CD booklet/jewel case with eco-friendly packaging (100% recyclable, 35% post-consumer) while still offering an unprecedented amount of content for a soundtrack.
Radio Disney will present the world premiere of the soundtrack on Saturday, August 16 (7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT) during Radio Disney’s PLANET PREMIERE, a regular feature presentation from the authority on the music kids love and parents trust. The soundtrack will be replayed on Sunday, August 17 (1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT). Radio Disney's Top 30 chart currently features the singles "One World" and "Dance Me If You Can."
The Cheetah Girls One World, follows Chanel, Aqua and Dorinda –The Cheetah Girls—as they travel from New York to India to star in a film directed by an aspiring Bollywood movie director. Upon arriving in India, they are shocked to learn their movie’s producer has a role for only one Cheetah Girl. Dreams and friendships are tested as they begin to compete against one another for the title role. Before long, the three girls begin to question their commitment to ‘The Cheetah Girls’ dream and each must weigh her own aspirations against the group’s future.
The soundtrack features songs written by hit-makers Andy Dodd, Adam Watts, Antonina Armato, Tim James, Jamie Houston, Robbie Nevil, Matthew Gerrard, Nikki Hassman, Adam Anders and Kara DioGuardi. The underscore was composed by David Lawrence ("High School Musical," "High School Musical 2"). Additionally, each Cheetah co-wrote a song for the album: “Stand Up”—written by Adrienne Bailon, Matthew Gerrard, and Robbie Nevil; “Crazy on the Dance Floor”—written by Sabrina Bryan, Sebastian Jacome, and Karl Cameron; “Circle Game”—written by Kiely Williams, Antonina Armato, and Tim James.
